Over the past six years, Car and Driver has brought 115 production cars to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) 4.1 mile Grand West Course. The result is an American-style Nurburgring-like timed lap test called the Lightning Lap. Currently, the 2010 Corvette ZR1 sits 4th fastest on the list with only a Viper ACR and two Moslers that have run faster. We were excited to see how the 2012 Corvette ZR1 tested with the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires would compare to its previous lap time and the results do not disappoint.

The 2012 North American International Auto Show is upon us, and it seems that a common market for most manufactureres is the mid-size and small car segment. In other words, daily drivers! But I am happy to see that a lot of them are not only focused on price and fuel economy, but also on performance, design and fun! Check out inside for the latest offerings from the Big Three!

After a year of hard work from our the whole team at Torq, we decided to have a little fun for our Christmas Party. As we are all very competitive car guys, what better then to have a Go-Kart race where we would battle it out and the winner would get a paid day off work! So how did it go? Shelby will be unveiling a new vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. We don't know yet which vehicle is being introduced, but the best guess is that it will be a new version of a Mustang in their current lineup – most likely the GT350 – featuring the styling updates from the 2013 Mustang. Other possibilities, although less likely, include the 2013 GT500 Super Snake or the 2013 GTS. Read more inside!

GM has kept a tight lid on the ZL1 Camaro specifications, specifically the Horsepower & Torque figures...until now. We’ve finally got official power info, and it was worth the wait! The 2012 Camaro ZL1 has been officially rated at 580hp / 556lb-ft torque! It will come completely track ready, with Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires, beefed up transmission and output shaft, and the latest version of the vaunted Magnetic Ride Control. No announcement on price yet, that should come closer to its launch in the Spring of next year.

Joseph Goebbels, the Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany once said "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." I cannot say how relevant that statement was in 1940, but in this internet age, it couldn't be more accurate. As it relates to fuel injectors, there is a concept that has been coming up a lot lately, often used an excuse for inexpensive injectors that have not been characterized. It seems the more it goes around the more people believe it. It goes something like this: Drilling the atomizer plate to increase the flow rate of an injector does not change its offset. The internals have not changed, so the injector response time is the same. As an extension of that thought, it is assumed that the low pulse adders used in GM software, and the low slope and breakpoint used in Ford software are unchanged as well. This topic came up on the Corvette forum recently, and I let it twist my little engineer brain into a quivering knot, ready to explode. Then a more sensible man than me suggested that a drilled, and undrilled injector be "put through the tests that ID uses to get their data" Why didn't I think of that? It would have saved me a few gray hairs.

Each integrated exhaust manifold cylinder head – a V6 has two -- replaces a cast iron exhaust manifold, six bolts, a gasket and a heat shield and three bolts.

This years annual Camaro5 Fest was held at Firebird Raceway in beautiful Phoenix AZ, and was the 2nd of many Camaro5 Fest’s to come! Last year’s inaugural event was held on the East Coast, at South Georgia Motorsports Park and was a huge success, but as it was a far travel for all the West Coast Camaro’s the venue was changed for this year.

Dodge has confirmed that the next-generation Viper will be revealed in late 2012, most likely as a 2013 model, and believe it or not it will pack stability control!

Torq is once again heading out to Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, AZ, this time for the 2nd Annual Camaro5 Fest Event! Last years event in Valdosta, GA was a huge success with over 400 5th Gen Camaro's on site for a weekend full of dragracing, Auto-X Racing, Car Shows and of course a parade lap around SGMP's Oval Track. The crew over at Camaro5.com have made sure that this year will be even better, with a larger venue, more events and more action packed racing over 3 days!

Zeta rumors have been the hot topic of General Motors’ enthusiasts and mainstream media since the first inklings of the return of the Camaro. Initially the platform was going to see production in North America, hosting an entire lineup of rear-wheel drive greatness. Then gas prices spiked the first time and GM’s cash position dwindled, thus killing the glorious plans. Fast-forward to today and drama still surrounds Zeta, but future plans are starting to become clearer.

Once again the Torq team hits the track for some road course fun, but also some real-world testing of our project vehicles and products. This time it was off to Miami Homestead Speedway for a night event organized by Hooked On Driving. We had several customers and their vehicles with us as well, and offered ride-alongs in both of our project vehicles.

Dissecting dyno numbers can often be overwhelming and requires a fair amount of background and knowledge. I'd like to break it down for you so the next time your car is on the rollers the shop cannot pull a quick one on you. This can end up providing misleading information and high expectations for friends and other enthusiasts.

Most people know that showing STD numbers read higher but not many know why. SAE represents more realistic standard conditions, STD artificially boosts numbers.

While browsing the internet this evening after a long week at the shop I came across an article I thought was interesting and wanted to share it right away because there is a lot of misconception about the subject of warranty denial and aftermarket performance parts, especially computer tuning with SCT and Diablo handheld programmers and even superchargers. The fact that I happened to come across this topic now is quite fitting as I was discussing this exact issue with a fellow enthusiast and a potential customer regarding a Corvette SCT Handheld Flash Programmer and our Corvette Tuning on Corvetteforum.com. This is a very common topic among all racers and enthusiasts so I felt it should be addressed properly.

Project Cammedmaro and Driver Erik Cederberg (Operations Manager at Torq) were nominated and chosen by the members over at Camaro5.com to represent Camaro5.com in season two of Royal Purples Forum Wars! They will be up against Challengertalk.com and their Twin Turbo Challenger in the 1/4 Mile, Road Course and Slalom track. These 3 events will be an awesome proving ground to show who has the best combination of power, chassi, balance and driving skills in these modern muscle cars. As usual, Project Cammedmaro will be driven to the event and raced in the same trim as she is driven on the street. As many of you know we originally tested the FRPP Intake Manifold on a naturally aspirated 3V with CNC heads and Cams and full bolt-on's and did a nice writeup showing the gains from just swapping the intake manifold (the car already had CMCV deletes). The other day we had the chance to test the intake on a Procharged setup and we wanted to share our findings.

Back in October we attended an event that was held all the way across the country in Phoenix, Arizona. The event was the first annual "Duel In The Desert" race held by the crew over at Camaro Performers Magazine and supported by the Camaro5.com community.

We have finally arrived back from Bowling Green, KY (1100miles one-way) and the first annual LS Fest! In short this was the first annual event to celebrate the infamous GM made "LS motor". Dragracing, Auto-X, Show and Shine and many more activities were on the schedule for all the participants. But as usual, Project Cammedmaro had her sights on the Auto-X!
